Scrub is a cosmetic product for the face or body that contains special particles for cleansing and exfoliating dead cells. There are certain rules that must be followed when using such products. Only then will you look younger, and cleansing will bring only benefit.
It is possible to prepare a scrub at home, because the first scrubs, masks, and creams were created at home from makeshift means. The base of the scrub can be vegetable, flaxseed, almond, or olive oil. The latter, by the way, is more suitable for the composition of the skin’s fat. Sour cream, honey, and egg yolk can also be the basis for a scrub.

As abrasive substances, you can use salt, ground coffee, crushed walnuts and almonds – they are perfect for thick, oily and porous skin. For thin or dry skin, you can use oatmeal, sugar, soda. Add fruits and berries to your scrub and get a product that allows you to make a light chemical peeling at home. Thus, for example, lemon, cucumber, sour milk products can be used to lighten the skin and whiten pigmentation. Honey and aloe juice have an anti-inflammatory effect.
Scrub “Gingerbread”
- Sugar 1 cup
- Brown sugar 1 cup
- Olive or coconut oil 1/2 cup
- Almond oil 1/4 cup
- Vanilla 1 pod
- Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon
- Dried ginger 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh grated ginger 1/2 teaspoon
- Nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon
1. Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the pulp with a knife. Add to a bowl. Also add sugar, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Thoroughly mix the ingredients.
2. Pour in the oils little by little, constantly stirring the scrub. Determine the consistency of the scrub yourself, adding more or less oil. Transfer the resulting mixture to a jar and store in the bathroom.
3. Use the scrub for the body. If you want to use such a scrub for the face, replace the sugar with salt.
Tomato Scrub
- 1 Tomato
- 1/4 cup Olive Oil
- 1/2 cup Salt
1. In a deep bowl, sprinkle the salt and add half of the oil.
2. Slice the tomato in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon and add it to the salt and oil. Mash the tomato with a fork, then mix everything together.
3. If the consistency is too dry, add a bit more oil. Store this scrub only in the refrigerator. Use for face.
Coffee Scrub
- Coffee grounds 1 cup
- Sugar 1/2 cup
- Almond oil 1/4-1/2 cup
- Orange oil 3-7 drops
1. Spread the coffee grounds on a paper towel in a thin layer and let it dry. This can take 1-5 hours.
2. Combine the dry ingredients (coffee and sugar). Gradually add the oil, adjusting the consistency as desired.
3. Once the scrub is ready, add the orange oil. Be careful with the amount and don’t overdo it – it can irritate very sensitive skin.
4. If you used coarsely ground coffee beans, use such a scrub only on the body, not on the face.
Scrub with chamomile, rose and oats
- Dry pink petals 1 tablespoon
- Dry chamomile flowers 1 tablespoon
- Oat flakes 1 tablespoon
- Honey 2 tablespoons
- Sesame, olive or almond oil 1/4 cup
1. In a coffee grinder, grind the chamomile, pink petals and oats.
2. Add honey and oil to the dry ingredients, mix well and transfer the scrub to a jar.
Spiced scrub in cubes
- Olive oil 1/4 cup
- Sugar 1 cup
- Soap without color and fragrance 1 piece
- Pumpkin pie spice mix 1 teaspoon
- Honey 1 tablespoon
1. Grate the soap on a fine grater. You will need 1/2 cup. Mix it with oil and put in the microwave for 10 seconds. Stir well. Then reheat for 10 seconds and stir again. Continue until the soap is completely dissolved.
2. Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Add honey, spices and sugar.
3. Quickly pour the mixture into ice cube trays and put in the refrigerator until set.
4. Remove the finished scrub from the molds and store in a cool place.
